A
selection of songs from both the Eastern and the
Western Sephardic traditions. The importance of Sephardic music lies not only
in its great beauty, but also in that it is an integral part of Spain´s basic cultural heritage. It is also a showcase of the
magnificent resulting from the fruitful contacts of diverse ethnic and cultural
groups living toghether in harmony in the same land and taking advantage of
both their differences and their commonalities.
Songs
based on the Romancero Castellano (an old canon of traditional Spanish
ballads), of Middle Ages origin, mostly of a narrative character. They are,
though the mechanisms of their creation and oral transmission, a manifestation
of the Spanish collective conscience.

Cetina, Frai Luis de León, San Juan de la Cruz,
Quevedo, Zorrilla, Calderón, Fernández de Andrada, Cervantes,
Saint Teresa de Jesús.
